Borrow Beyond Altoona

If you are an Altoona or rural Polk County resident, you can borrow from across Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, and beyond! Use the online catalog to search for an item. If it’s not there, use the MOBIUS link in the lower left column to send your search to MOBIUS. Not there? Use the Prospector link from MOBIUS to search Colorado libraries. Use your library card to place a hold on the item and it will be shipped.

Call the library to submit an Interlibrary Loan request for items in Iowa. We recommend trying a MOBIUS/Prospector search first.

We receive MOBIUS items three times a week via courier service. Interlibrary Loan is delivered via U.S. Postal Service.

The library is open limited hours. Limited curbside service will be available.

  • Monday-Thursday: 10-12; 3-7 (curbside 7-7:30)
  • Friday: Closed except for curbside pick up
  • Saturday: 10-12; 3-5 (curbside 5-5:30)
  • Sunday: Closed

Returns will be accepted inside for visitors. The walk up drop remains open Tuesdays from 12-4 and Fridays at 9am to Saturday at 9am. The drive up drop remains closed. All returns are quarantined for 72 hours before being checked in.

No-contact pick up will still be available. Place holds and pick up items at an assigned time, with stress free no-contact service! For more information on the process, visit No Contact Pick Up.
