Mobile Hotspots
Need a wi-fi connection on the go? Borrow a hotspot for a week!
What’s a hotspot?
Portable hotspots allow for free, temporary online access from any location using a Wi-Fi enabled device such as a phone, tablet, or laptop. They’re small devices that connect to the internet anywhere the carrier’s service is available. Altoona Public Library’s provider is US Cellular. Our initial costs were funded by the Friends of the Altoona Public Library.
Who can borrow a hotspot?
Cardholders who live inside Altoona’s city limits, or in unincorporated (rural) Polk County who are 18 years of age or older. Your account must be in good standing.
There aren’t any available! Can I place a hold?
Yes! Patrons will be notified when their hold is ready to pick up and will have two (2) days to check out the hotspot.
Can I jet all over the world and use a library hotspot?
They only work within the continental United States. Besides, you can’t jet all over the world in 7 days!
